Dante’s poetic justice:

Dante’s whole tale of hell is based on poetic justice, if your bad you go to hell. In the fourth circle the avaricious an the prodigal are punished by having tied weights to their bodies and having to do semi circles for eternity. This is poetic justice because of the way they are being punished. Their sin was using their money unwisely and bragging to others about their happiness. They must suffer by eternal physical fatigue. The meaning is that the lack of realizing how little they had to work,  makes the punishment their realization of the lack of fatigue on the real world. Since they wasted their life’s they shall be wasted on.
